The 6.2 is a gas engine modified to a diesel. The bottom ends are their weak point. I had one(two) in a Suburban. Blew the first one in cold weather, the second one dropped the front main bearing cap on a no load summer cruise. Threw the whole mess away.

No, the 5.7 diesel was based on a gas engine. The 6.2 was 100% diesel. One of the worst engines ever put in a truck IMHO.... No power, mucho smoke in stock form. It was made to equal the 350 gas engine. Don't expect much from a stock 6.2 diesel, even those with a Banks turbo didn't put out much. "
