chevrolet-avalanche

chevrolet-avalanche: "Part of GM's problem is that it suffers from $1,100 in legacy costs for each of its vehicles made. Legacy costs are the pension and health care costs generated by a million or so retirees and dependents. The Japanese competitors don't labor under this handicap. Hence, GM can not charge more for its vehicles but has this additional overhead burden. As an offset, it has squeezed its parts suppliers into lowering their prices. They have complied under pressure but consequently produce cheaper and inferior parts which find their way into GM products. The dealers are satisfied with this situation because part of their profits are earned from their service shops which stay busy. That is my editorial for the day!' "
